The GOP Should Stop Playing Games

Yesterday the House of Representatives passed a 1.1 trillion dollar spending bill full of ridiculous project funding. There were no yes votes from republicans, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t have a hand in adding to the cost of the bill. There were funds allocated for things like oyster rehabilitation, soybean research, 8.5 million to the University of Louisville, and another million for conserving fish and wildlife. These were items from republicans who banded together and did not vote for the bill. I guess somehow we are all supposed to be so proud of them for not voting for the spending bill, when clearly they are just playing games.  They know they don’t have to vote on a bill like this to get it passed so they can tell everyone they didn’t vote for the massive spending bill while reaping the rewards by adding their own pet projects into it. Such a disgrace.

Campaigning for the 2010 election has begun and with the country widely supporting fiscal responsibility, republicans are trying to give the appearance of having some self control when it comes to spending, but it is clear that they don’t. They can look you in the eye and complain about the spending from the democrats, but until they actually make the move to participating in protecting this country from bankrupts there will be no reason to vote for them in the upcoming election. We desperately need leadership that understands the dire urgency of getting this countries spending under control. The incumbent republican needs to have the same concerns in this upcoming election as the democrats because there has been no sign of any change from either side.
